An idiom bit of fun for Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night (Guy Fawkes Day)
Walking can be inspirational at times. Often when I’m walking my dog, Crumpette, I hear, see or think something that sows the seed for an article.
The other day, for example, I heard an incessant, mournful cawing that drew my eyes to the top of a dead tree, where I saw a murder of crows fussing about before settling to roost for the night.
And there it was. The seed. I began to think about idioms that have the word ‘crow’ in them. Within a minute or two, I’d come up with four:

Wow! Next, I tried to remember other creature-related idioms, but I could not think of another bird or animal that occurs so often.
I shared these musings with my husband, who promptly came up with ‘Crow’s nest’.
So, as a bit of fun for Hallowe’en, and with Guy Fawkes (Bonfire) Night coming up, I thought I’d invite you to come up with a creature that occurs in more than FIVE idioms.
